How will my money be used?

We are aiming to raise $6,000 during this appeal to support the following:

$1,500 Annual Poppy Appeal

Purchase of poppies, wreathes and mail distribution to volunteers.

$3,000 Sebago Lake Memorial

On 16 May 1944 two Royal Navy Corsairs crashed into Sebago Lake, Maine. The bodies of the two pilots were never recovered.

We have received permission to erect a memorial stone to Sub Lt Knott (age 19) and Sub Lt Gill (age 24) who have no known grave. This will be a lasting memorial to the bravery of two British pilots who made the ultimate sacrifice.

$1,000 Weymouth John Gillion Memorial

John W. Gillion served in the British army's 79th Regiment of Foot, the Cameron Highlanders, as a surgeon's assistant at the battles of Quatre Bras and Waterloo under the Duke of Wellington. After the Napoleonic wars ended he emigrated to New England and settled in Weymouth, Massachusetts.

We are working with the City of Weymouth to erect a permanent memorial to recognize John's service.
